Houston Holiday Concerts 2018

Christmas music is one of my favorite things about the holidays! Whether it’s old fashioned caroling, a lively singalong, or a spectacular choral performance, I love them all. While I’m not participating in any productions this season, I’m looking forward to the many options around Houston. Here are just a few of my top choices.

December 13th-16th: International Voices Houston presents December Rose at MATCH. I loved singing with this international choir last December and look forward to this year’s performance which includes special guests, the Sakura Japanese Women’s Chorus.

December 14th & 15th: St. Agnes Academy/Strake Jesuit College Preparatory Mixed Chorus performs Handel’s Messiah. As an alumnus of this choir, this is always a special concert. This year, the concert will take place at Meyer Hall, the new performing arts space named in honor of Sr. Jane Meyer, my mentor and former principal.

December 15th: Houston Cecilia Choir gets into the holiday spirit with Ken Darby’s Twas the Night before Christmas and classic carols. This interative family affair features a baton raffle where the winner gets to conduct the choir thorugh Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus.

December 20th-22nd: Martin Burniston’s 28th Annual Christmas Singalong returns to the Mucky Duck. Book a table for a festive evening of dining while singing all the holiday favorites. On Saturday afternoon there’s a special kids show.

December 22nd: Murder by the Book hosts a Christams Carol Singalong for the whole family. Enjoy eggnog, holiday treats, and even do a bit of last minute Christmas shopping.

Happy Caroling!
