Hill Country Getaways

Autumn’s official arrival this week signals the coming of cool crisp mornings and mild sunny afternoons meant for spending outdoors. While I love a visit to the Texas Hill Country any time of the year, the next few months are especially gorgeous when the yellow, orange, and rust-colored leaves pop out against the limestone cliffs and winding creeks. Whether you’re looking for a family adventure or a solo weekend to decompress, here are a few of my favorite Hill Country destinations.

Luckenbach: My family’s go-to spot for live country music and two-steppin’ is this legendary dance hall just a short drive from Fredericksburg.

Boerne: This small town’s Main Street is filled with quaint shops and restaurants, with a Saturday Farmers Market located on the scenic grounds of the pioneer Herff Farm founded in the 1850s along the banks of Cibolo Creek

Stonewall: Located on the Pedernales River, Stonewall is the perfect spot to explore the Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and sample the surrounding wineries, like the popular Pedernales Cellars. Nearby is the historic Albert Icehouse and Dancehall, another honky tonk where you’ll likely find me boot scootin’ with my boys.

Happy trails!
